Lizzo has announced her return to music with new single ‘Rumours’, and we cannot wait for our queen’s ‘new era’

It’s been two years since her Grammy-winning album Cuz I Love You, and we’re officially starving for new music from Lizzo – so it’s no surprise that her announcement of upcoming single Rumours has the internet practically bursting at the seams with excitement.

The singer teased the news on Instagram on Sunday, before officially sharing her latest single’s title and a glowing snap in an ultra-embellished corset – telling fans: “NEW ERA B***H. ‘RUMORS’. 8/13.”

Following the huge success of songs Truth Hurts, Good As Hell and Juice, we have no doubt that Rumours will reach bop status before you can say ‘most listened to on Spotify’.

And it’s safe to say that Lizzo fans are excited, too, with many reacting to her news with countless fire emojis and replies of “OMGGGGG” or “YASSSSS”. Same girl, same.

Lizzo’s new look got her followers talking too, with plenty commenting on her statement earrings and bleached-out brows. “I can’t get over the earrings wearing earrings,” one wrote – and another added: “Is that an ear EARRING? Icon.”

So what do we know so far? Lizzo’s new track is currently available to pre-save on Spotify and pre-order on Apple Music. Other than that, there’s a whole lot of ‘shh’-ing going on about the song. Literally.

The star has also hinted that Rumours is the beginning of a ‘new era’ for her – could that be a clue about a new album title?

Lizzo mentioned her plans for her next record during an interview with Vogue back in October 2020, when she revealed that she was still working on individual songs rather than a full album.

“Oh, girl, I don’t know,” she said of her next big release. “I gotta finish the songs. It’s gonna be good, though. I’ll tell you that. It’s gonna be mother****ing good.”

We have no doubt…
