What is The Staircase about?

As we mentioned before, The Staircase as it’s based on one of the most infamous and compelling cases of all time, which has already been the subject of a top-true crime docuseries back in 2018 (some say it actually sparked our love of true crime series). It follows the case of Kathleen Peterson, who was found dead at the bottom of the stairs at her family home in North Carolina in 2001, after suspicions arose that her husband, Michael Peterson, had murdered her and staged her death to look like an accident.

HBO’s version of The Staircase will be an eight-episode adaptation of the previous docuseries, written and executive-produced by Antonio Campos (The Devil All the Time) and Maggie Cohn (American Crime Story).

Who stars in The Staircase?

Well, it’s a pretty star-studded roster (honestly, to be a fly on the wall at the dressing rooms on set for this one), including, Sophie Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. Turner will play the role of Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson’s adopted daughters.
