Ariel Pink Dropped by Record Label Mexican Summer After Attending Pro-Trump White House Rally

Ariel Pink has been dropped by his record label Mexican Summer. The label tweeted that it has “decided to end [its] working relationship” with the artist “moving forward.” Mexican Summer had been set to release Odditties Sodomies Vol. 1, Sit n’ Spin, Odditties Sodomies Vol. 3, and Scared Famous/FF>> on January 29 as the final installments of its “Ariel Archives” series. Pitchfork has contacted Mexican Summer regarding the future of the releases.

On January 7, it was reported that Ariel Pink was in attendance at a pro-Trump rally that took place on the White House lawn on January 6, shortly before hundreds of insurrectionists, some of them armed, gained access to the U.S. Capitol building.

Pink confirmed his attendance at the rally, writing on Twitter, “i was in dc to peacefully show my support for the president… i attended the rally on the white house lawn and went back to hotel and took a nap. case closed.” He has said he was not part of the mob that stormed the Capitol.
