‘I love my stripes’: Khloe Kardashian shares an empowering picture celebrating her stretch marks

Bonafide babe Khloe Kardashian has been lauded by social media users for celebrating her stretch marks on Instagram.

The 36-year-old reality star posted a close-up bikini pic of her ‘stripes’ highlighted by sand.

Khloe captioned the image with “I love my stripes” alongside a zebra emoji.

The mother-of-one was quickly applauded for sharing the image, with celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin commenting, “Yes you did!”.

Other users called Khloe a ‘Queen’ and others praised her for normalising stretch marks.

Sister Kim Kardashian commended Khloe on her figure, adding: “It’s the waist for me …”

Khloe has joined the likes of Ashley Graham and younger sister Kylie Jenner who have both spoken openly about stretch marks in the past.

Ashley, who gave birth to son Isaac in January last year, regularly posts body-positive images of how pregnancy changed her body – and the stretch marks that came with it.

During an interview with Elle in August last year, Ashley said: “When I got pregnant, I had to reimagine my relationship with my body with this creature inside me taking over. I was gaining weight so rapidly. Then, to get stretch marks on my stomach, that to me was like, ‘Oh my gosh. I can’t believe this happened’.

“At first it felt devastating, and then when I met Isaac, I said, ‘No, this is exactly what every woman has talked about for ages. This is not just a battle wound. This is something that has changed my life forever, and I’m going to celebrate my new body.”

According to the NHS (and every woman I know) stretch marks are very common.

They are caused by sudden growth or weight gain and you’re more likely to get them if you’re pregnant, overweight or if you’re a female in general.

While there is no proven way to get rid of stretch marks, the NHS recommends using retinoid creams or hyaluronic acid (although, not if you’re pregnant), light or laser treatment and microdermabrasion if you did want to look at treating them.

Whatever you decide to do (your body, your choice) know that stretch marks are completely normal.
