Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their second baby.

Yes, little Archie Harrison-Mountbatten Windsor is going to be a big brother!

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” a spokesperson for the couple confirmed on Valentine’s Day. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” the source added.

A stunning black and white photo of the expectant couple, taken by friend and photographer Misan Harriman, was also shared online.

This is welcome news for the couple after the Duchess of Sussex poignantly shared how she suffered a miscarriage last summer.

In a candid open letter written for the New York Times, Meghan, 39, wrote: “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few.”

Meghan describes feeling a sharp pain while she was holding son, Archie. “I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right. I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.

“Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

Meghan is the first royal to speak openly on the ‘unbearable grief’ of losing a baby. Zara Tindall suffered two miscarriages while Sophie, Countess of Wessex, lost an unborn baby in 2001.

We’re so thrilled the couple are now expecting their second child.

The royal couple announced they were expecting Archie back in October 2018 and the 38-year-old gave birth to their son the following May. “He has the sweetest temperament,” Meghan told members of the press days after the infant’s arrival. “He’s really calm. He’s been the dream, so it’s been a special couple of days. It’s pretty amazing and I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy.”

Harry has previously revealed that the couple only plan to have two kids at most. Speaking about climate change to Dr. Jane Goodall in British Vogue, he said: “It does make it different. I think, weirdly, because of the people that I’ve met and the places that I’ve been fortunate enough to go to, I’ve always had a connection and a love for nature. I view it differently now, without question. But I’ve always wanted to try and ensure that, even before having a child and hoping to have children…”

“Not too many!” Goodall interjected, laughing.

“Two, maximum!” Harry said. “But I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”

We’ll keep you updated with all the news on this new arrival as and when we hear more.
