David Byrne’s American Utopia stage show is returning to Broadway in September, as Playbill notes. The shows will begin on September 17 at the St. James Theatre. Joining Byrne in the band and cast are: Jacquelene Acevedo, Gustavo Di Dalva, Daniel Freedman, Chris Giarmo, Tim Keiper, Tendayi Kuumba, Karl Mansfield, Mauro Refosco, Stéphane San Juan, Angie Swan, and Bobby Wooten III.

American Utopia ran from October 2019 to February 2020 at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre. The show, which shares its name with David Byrne’s Grammy-nominated 2018 album, features music from throughout Byrne’s career, as well as a cover of Janelle Monáe’s “Hell You Talmbout.” Last year, HBO released a film version of American Utopia, directed by Spike Lee.
