Trigger Point: Vicky McClure is back in a new ITV police drama and we can’t wait for it to drop

Line of Duty might not have ended the way we all wanted it to, but we can all agree that Vicky McClure made it epic and whilst we’re missing her on screens, there’s good news: she’ll be back again reprising a similar role.

ITV’s upcoming drama, Trigger Point, will feature the actress as a bomb disposal operative – and it looks absolutely epic.

What is Trigger Point about?

The six-part series will look at counter-terrorism policing and be full of thriller-like moments.

The main characters are bomb disposal operatives who are working up against the clock to save lives.

ITV have said: “Under extreme pressure and searching for answers, [Vicky McClure’s character] can’t help but become suspicious that the bomber is premeditatedly targeting her unit.

“It’s a terrifying thought, but against all odds how does she prove it and discover the bomber’s real identity?”

Who does it star?

Alongside Vicky, Adrian Lester will take on the other lead role. We reckon they’ll become our new favourite TV duo.

Vicky plays Lana, and she’s a former military member. Adrian plays Joel, also ex-military and the pair actually served together in Afghanistan.

There’s already a strong friendship between the two it seems, so they’ll likely work well together.

When will it start?

Currently we don’t know, but the show was commissioned in February 2020 and is in production now. We expect it might air late this year or early in 2022.

Jed Mercurio is involved of course – like in any successful mainstream drama series – meaning it might stand up well to Line of Duty (his most successful show yet).

Is there a trailer?

Currently no as filming is still ongoing, but we can’t wait to see when it lands.
