The cherry imagining machine, which has just arrived in the UK, offers a 3D facial scanning system that is set to transform the future of aesthetics. Wave goodbye to the hand-held mirrors and sterile settings of a Botox clinic and instead go face to face with… yourself!
The first machine of its kind, available at the newly opened Mayfair Ouronyx clinic, this new technology enables your whole face to be blown up in 3D with a single one-click scan. It is definitely a game-changer when it comes to analysing your skin. And for those used to having Botox, fillers and other cosmetic injectables, the cherry imaging machine now provides an almost pore-precise way of delving deeper into your skin’s concerns.
The process takes less than three minutes, yet – like an x-ray – you have to remain perfectly still. The innovative, handheld scanner captures thousands of 3D images of the face from multiple field views and angles. Each scan emits a flash of light and captures the finest subtleties in texture and smallest changes in volume.
“It is the most mind-blowing piece of technology as the software analyses the data and the images are sent directly to my computer, ” explains Ouronyx clinical director Dr Marco Nicoloso, when I visited the clinic to trial the new camera.
As he led me to his consulting room, which looks more like a luxury lounge than a clinical setting, I have to admit I got the shock of my life. For it looks like my 84-year-old father is in attendance… seriously though, seeing myself beamed onto the white screen in 3D is somewhat frightening as I totally resemble my dad! The scanning technology picked up signs of ageing I didn’t know existed! Showing up everything – from my ageing spots to the individual hairs in my nostril – and it is quite a lot to take in.
What is fascinating though is that at a click of a button, Dr Nicoloso shows me he can see everything from the depth of my wrinkles, size of facial lines, percentage of cheek collagen and so forth. And as he manoeuvres the image around the screen, getting to see my profile from all angles is amazing.
“Digital beauty is fast becoming a power player, and personalisation is a crucial area of development – and you can’t get more personalised than this. With this machine at hand it changes the whole customer experience,“ says Dr Marco. “What we do here is take in all of the face, not just the one area, if someone wants Botox, for example. You may have crows feet you want reduced and so this machine can show you once that is done how the rest of the face can look.
When it comes to the benefits for the clients, it is a game changer as they get to see their face close up like never before, allowing us to target together the areas they may want to work on. And have a real sense and view of the outcome, treating the whole face rather than in isolation.”
Consultation over, I am left thinking this really is a new age of skin deep aesthetics. And for someone who is rather anxious about having any injectables, this new machine certainly gives an element of reassurance that any enhancement would be natural in appearance.
