The supermodel blowdry is back – get ready for the return of big, bombshell hair

We’re all for no-makeup makeup and nonchalant looks that don’t look like we’ve tried too hard, but we miss making an effort too. If you enjoy the process of making yourself feel shiny and fabulous and you’re aching for something a little fancier, you’ll love this next prediction from Luke Hersheson, top hair stylist and CEO of Hersesons salon.

“I think there will be a wave back towards longer, more styled hair,” he says. “We were locked down for so long, we’re craving to embrace glamour,” he adds. “We’ve seen it before with the post-depression era in the ‘20s or post-war hair in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Hair was very heightened, it was less functional.”

“There’s a mood of getting dressed-up and going out,” says Luke, and what better way than to reference back to our mum’s hey-day when they swapped straight-leg Levi’s in the evening to douse themselves in Dior Dune and hit the town in strappy heels.

“There’s a mood of embracing super model hair,” says Luke, so we’re looking to supers like Cindy, Naomi, Kate, Tyra and Christy for inspo.

“Just looking at Kendall the other day, she wore a ‘90s blow-out to go out,” says Luke. It was undeniably, unashamedly out-out hair, and we’re here for it.

“And looking at Bella Hadid in Cannes – it all felt very opulent and ‘chignony’. There’s this anti-grunge thing going on. People just want to get glammed up and hair is an integral part of that.’

“We’ve had years of keeping the front flatter, and giving the back a bit of movement, but the ’90s supers had big hair. Big hair at the back and big hair at the front,” says Luke, so when you’re recreating it yourself, make sure you use a round brush to add oomf to your fringe and front sections,

So there you have it, big bombshell ‘90s hair is back and we couldn’t be happier.
