And Just Like That has been confirmed for a second season! Here’s what we know so far

The show has undertaken many radical changes made in order to be more progressive than its iconic, but problematic older sister. More people of colour were cast, we tapped into the LGBTQ+ community, Sara Ramirez plays non-binary love interest Che AND, most confusingly, Carrie joins the new generation of media and co-hosts a podcast.

But these storylines have not all been met with support by younger or long-time fans of the show’s core four. Fans have dubbed the reboot “cringe” and “weird” when it comes to the attempts to be “woke”, while others haven’t been impressed with certain character’s journey’s (*cough* Miranda). So Page Six has reported that writers may bring And Just Like That… back to prove they can do better.

“They may feel that they want to prove a point that they can make a second season stronger and that it was valid to bring it back for fans,” a source has said.

What have the And Just Like That… team said about coming back for season two?

HBO has told Vulture that it would be ultimately up to the show’s star Sarah Jessica Parker and her co-executive producer Michael Patrick King as to whether the show returns. An HBO rep has said: “To tell you the truth, it would be a conversation, because I have no idea.”

“They kind of came together to do this. They were all really busy and doing other things. So it is certainly a conversation we’ll have, for sure. But we haven’t decided anything or done anything.

“I’m going to leave it up to these guys to figure out what they want to do, but I’m very happy with what they’ve done. It really does feel like you’re picking up with old friends and haven’t missed a beat.”

While Parker and Charlotte star Kristin Davis have not spoken publicly about the possibility of a second season, Miranda actress Cynthia Nixon has hinted that it could be down to whether the writers can take us any further.

“Even though I’m an executive producer and I got to direct an episode, I am not a writer,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “And so, that is one of the great privileges of being a writer, that it’s not my job to figure it out, thank God.”

Newcomer to the series Sarita Choudhury – playing Seema Patel, Carrie’s estate agent pal, who has picked up some of the Samantha/Kim Cattrall energy that has been seriously lacking – spoke out about being hopeful for another season as it would give an opportunity to get to know the new characters, as well as the older versions of our SATC favourites.

“Just the other day, I was thinking, I wonder. Because there’s a point where they let you know if there is or not and we’re not at that point yet,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight

“I was thinking, God, I hope there is, And also, I was thinking, you know when you bring in new characters and you just start establishing and everyone’s getting used to all of us having grown up, Carrie’s grown up.

“I feel like the second [season] would be able to just jump into who they really are as opposed to getting the audience used to seeing what they’re seeing. So I would love a second season, but I really don’t know.”
