Anna Delvey Is Out Of Prison & Her Outfit Is As Good As You Think

Anna Sorokin, whom most know as Anna Delvey, is out of prison. The fake German heiress was spotted on her way to a court date in New York City on Tuesday, October 11, wearing a dramatic all-black ensemble that included a monogrammed head scarf (It reads “A.D.” not “A.S.,” in case you’re curious.)

Sorokin, who was the subject of the dramatized Netflix series Inventing Anna, stepped out in a long black trench coat layered over a black blouse and black trousers. She wore black heeled sandals, large sunglasses, and, to complete the look, a government-issued GPS monitor that was secured to her ankle (although she didn’t really have a choice there).

Last week the woman formerly known as Anna Delvey was released from ICE custody. She will live under house arrest in her NYC apartment in the East Village. Delvey was found guilty of several charges related to swindling more than $200,000 from investors and banks in 2019, per The Cut. She was released early from prison in February 2021 for good behavior but arrested by ICE several weeks later for overstaying her visa. Sorokin spent the past 18 months at a detention facility in Goshen, New York.

Anna Sorokin is not allowed to post on social media, but since her release, she’s done an interview with The New York Times.

“Letting them deport me would have been like a sign of capitulation—confirmation of this perception of me as this shallow person who only cares about obscene wealth, and that’s just not the reality,” she told the newspaper. “I could have left, but I chose not to because I’m trying to fix what I’ve done wrong.”

She also told the Times about her plans for the future, which include several projects and a podcast. “I’d love to do something with criminal justice reform to kind of highlight the struggles of other girls,” she said.
