Netflix Gifts More Clues To ‘Dark’ Creators Baran Bo Odar And Jantje Friese‘s Mystery Thriller ‘1899’ In Latest Trailer

Dark creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese’s highly-anticipated latest Netflix series 1899 has dropped an extended trailer, gifting more clues.

1899, which made the TIFF Primetime Program Competition, launches November 17 and is one of the streamer’s most high-profile shows to have come out of Europe, due to launch shortly after Netflix Germany’s The Empress has been accruing impressive audience figures worldwide.

The project is the next from Dark creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, a mystery series about the mysterious happenings on the deck of an immigrant ship going from Europe to New York. The passengers, all of different backgrounds and nationalities, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and their future abroad but when they discover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had gone missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn.

Today’s trailer gifts more clues as to the shape the eight-parter will take.

Speaking exclusively to Deadline last month, Netflix Germany VP German Original Series Katja Hofem said 1899 is the “perfect example of how we enabled brilliant German creatives to create a state-of-the-art show that has never been seen before.”
