It’s time to admit defeat: the COS wide-leg trousers have us and our wardrobes in a chokehold. It all comes down to two reasons; the fact that they’re cut to perfection from durable fabrics and that they go. with. everything.
Sourcing trousers that hit every mark – i.e. are long enough in the leg, snug enough on the waist and loose enough on the hips – without having to take them to your seamstress is a rare occurrence these days. It’s no wonder as to why, in that case, we all stood to such immediate attention when COS entered the chat with a pair for less than £100.
The COS wide-leg trousers in black, beige and navy have become a non-negotiable for stylists and editors (who wear them to death with everything from shirts and blazers to t-shirts and loafers), and now the retailer has re-stocked them in a multitude of hues, fabrics and finishes – just in time for spring – you can bet they’ll be added to the rotation too.
A minimalist influencer’s dream come true, these now-famous relaxed-fit trews have many appealing qualities about them – hence their status – but our favourite detail, which is perhaps a lesser-known feature to passers by, is the elasticated waist. Yep, despite the fact that belt loops are present, you can rest assured that you don’t have to wear one if you don’t want to. The concealed adjustable button tab to the interior allows you to go for a well-fitted look or a low-slung one for that borrowed-from-the-boys finish.
