Cannes Red Carpet 2023: Best Fashion, Outfits From the Film Festival

The 2023 Cannes Film Festival has rolled out its red carpet once again! And while the films are the main event, major fashion moments are always on show too.

Each May, the annual international festival premieres films of all genres, with the 2023 Cannes red carpet playing host to stars from around the world.

This year, the festival will showcase more than 50 movies, including highly anticipated offerings from Wes Anderson, Todd Haynes, Ken Loach, Martin Scorsese, Jessica Hausner, Alice Rohrwacher, James Mangold, Pedro Almodóvar, Ramata-Toulaye Sy, and Wim Wenders, among others.

The 76th Annual Cannes Film Festival began on Tuesday 16 May and runs through Saturday 27 May. Naturally, over the course of those 12 days, stars will descend on the French Riviera to support their projects with press conferences, photo-calls, and premieres – meaning plenty of time for some memorable red carpet looks.

We’re off to a strong start so far, from Dua Lipa in Celine and Gigi Hadid in Jean Paul Gaultier, to Helen Mirren’s gravity defying blue hair. While 21 films go up against each other for the Palme d’Or (the festival’s highest honour, which, in recent years, was previously awarded to Triangle of Sadness, Titane, and Parasite), the competition on the 2023 Cannes red carpet will be all about who earns the title of best dressed.

Highlights of this year’s slate include Club Zero, a boarding school thriller directed by Jessica Hausner and starring Mia Wasikowska; Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, which boasts an all-star cast of Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Carell, Tilda Swinton, and Jeffrey Wright, among others, and May December, Todd Haynes’s latest about a tabloid romance between an older woman (Julianne Moore) and a younger man (Charles Melton).

But, before the jurors make their selections and the Palme d’Or is awarded, take a look back on some of the best 2023 Cannes red carpet looks and outfits below.
