Harmony Korine’s EDGLRD Banner Taps Eric Kohn As Head Of Film Strategy And Development

EDGLRD—the new multidisciplinary design collective founded by filmmaker and artist Harmony Korine—has named Eric Kohn as Head of Strategy and Development, Film. Kohn comes to EDGLRD from his position as VP, Editorial Strategy and Executive Editor at IndieWire, where he has worked for over 16 years. Kohn will officially assume the position on August 30, 2023.

Kohn joins EDGLRD’s assembly of global creatives as they work to develop new methods that hasten the
creation and distribution of art and media. This fall, EDGLRD will open Korine’s newest film, Aggro Dr1ft, which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3 before screening at the Toronto and New York film festivals along with other key international festivals. Additionally, the studio has imminent plans to release original films, design objects, games, and fashion lines that showcase the breadth of the collective’s practice.

“I’m really excited to be working with Eric Kohn. He has great insight and adventurous tastes. I can’t wait
to see the projects he develops at EDGLRD. We are very happy to have him here with us. He also runs
marathons, which I find equally impressive,” said Korine.

In this new role, Kohn will be responsible for the development of new films from emerging and established
talent, synchronizing these initiatives with EDGLRD’s overarching mission and evolution. Kohn will work
directly with Korine to brainstorm and conceptualize new techniques. His vested interest in new media,
including XR, gaming, and other cutting-edge fields, makes him an ideal fit.

“For almost 20 years, I have tracked the most exciting cinematic achievements worldwide as well as the
future of creativity as a sustainable practice. EDGLRD sits at the confluence of art and technology that is
essential to obtaining that goal. I’m thrilled to join Harmony and the EDGLRD team as we chart a path to
bringing more singular work into the company,” said Kohn.

In his previous role at IndieWire, Kohn oversaw a wide range of initiatives, including educational projects,
events, and in-depth profiles. He has covered the industry, traveling to film festivals around the globe and
chronicling an innumerable range of film and TV talent. In addition to his contributions to IndieWire, Kohn
is a co-founder of the Critics Academy, a series of educational workshops for aspiring entertainment
journalists, and teaches film criticism at NYU.
