‘Argylle’ Trailer: Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa Center Of The Action In Matthew Vaughn’s New Spy Thriller

The first trailer has dropped for Argylle, the Matthew Vaughn-directed spy thriller with a loaded cast led by Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Adriana DeBose and Samuel L. Jackson.

The Apple Original Films pic has a February 2 theatrical release date set in partnership with Universal Pictures, which will roll it out globally before it becomes available on Apple TV+.

The script by Jason Fuchs centers on a famous spy novelist Elly Conway (Howard) whose book plots become valuable tools for a real super-spy agency that includes Argylle (Cavill).

The film is produced by Vaughn’s MARV and Cloudy Productions and Vaughn’s regular collaborators Adam Bohling and David Reid, as well as Fuchs. Zygi Kamasa, Carlos Peres, Claudia Vaughn and Adam Fishbach are executive producers.

Grammy winner Lipa is also providing original songs for the pic.

This was the package that Apple snapped up in August 2021 in a deal reportedly near $200 million, with the aim to turn it into a franchise. The pic is based on the upcoming novel of the same name by first-time author Elly Conway.

When Apple made the deal, Vaughn, who was behind the Kingsmen spy thriller franchise, said, “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ’50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
