Steve Treviño Sets March Launch For Second Netflix Comedy Special ‘A Simple Man’

Netflix announced on Monday that A Simple Man, the newest comedy special from Steve Treviño, will debut on the platform on March 12th.

Filmed at The Tobin Center in San Antonio, TX, A Simple Man sees Treviño tell us what it’s like living with a Type-A Virgo wife, squabbling over containers and pizza parties. He also shares nostalgic tales of his dad’s broken-down truck, an unlikely love story, and how to face the challenges of raising spoiled kids today. As a husband, father and son, Steve is just doing the best he can as a Simple Man.

Directing the special was the comic’s wife, Renae Treviño. Rick Cikowski produced it alongside exec producers Steve Treviño, Joe Meloche, Rick Cikowski, and David Karabinas.

Boasting over 3.4 million social media followers and more than 300 million views, Treviño most recently self-financed his fifth special, I Speak Wife, which garnered over 4 million views on YouTube. Prior to that, he unveiled 2020’s My Life in Quarantine and 2019’s ‘Til Death on Prime Video.

Treviño’s first Showtime special, Grandpa Joe’s Son, staked out a spot in the Nielsen Top 20 when it first premiered. From the success of his debut hour, he funded, produced, and shot his 2014 hour Relatable for Netflix. Helping to promote it was a viral clip titled “When Your Wife Comes Home From Shopping,” which exploded online with over 56 million views on Facebook, leading to the creation of others, such as “When You Ask Your Wife If She Wants McDonald’s.”

Steve teamed with wife Renae to launch the weekly podcast Steve Treviño and Captain Evil in 2020, using it as a means to examine the treacherous topics of relationships, family and stand-up comedy. All while trying to stay married. Kicking off his new tour, “The Good Life,” this year, the comic is repped by Arsonhouse Entertainment and CAA.
