Halle Bailey: Her New Curly Bob Is Not Your Average Curly Bob

We’re calling it now: 2024 is the year of the bob, and Halle Bailey just put her style stamp on the trend with a twist on the classic curly bob, literally.

The actor and musician attended the Aerie REAL Fest in Atlanta over the weekend looking like a breath of fresh spring air in a curly bob that hit just between her chin and collarbones, styled by her longtime hairstylist Tinisha Meeks. Though at first glance it looks like the entire bob is made up of springy loose ringlet curls, if you look closer you’ll see she’s also rocking two large twisted loc tendrils near the front of her face, as well as a few more twists throughout her hair, blending beautifully in with the curls.

Halle Bailey paired her bob with an equally springy glam from makeup artist Christiana Cassell, with softly smoky taupe eyes, peachy rose blush, a fluttery, wispy strip lash, and lined glossy lips. We’d be remiss not to mention the adorable “HALO” necklace she’s wearing with her white strapless jumpsuit, an adorable nod to her baby son who was born in early 2024.

Bailey’s Instagram followers were loving the bob moment too, flooding her comments with compliments and heart-eye emojis. “The short hair eats every time,” wrote one. “Yes, mother is mothering,” added another. Co-signed!

The Colour Purple star is best known for her long, waist-length locs, but shorter styles have their place in her hairstyling repertoire too. She’s gone short before, most notably at the 2023 Met Gala, where her hair was curled into an Old Hollywood style with loc roots. To see Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, Bailey went short in a twisted locs bob, and she wore yet another bob for Clive Davis’s legendary pre-Grammy Awards party in early February.

There’s just something about spring weather that makes you want to go shorter, and Bailey proves that there’s no time like the present for a big bob moment.
