Michael Douglas Requested To Be Killed Off In ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania’: “There’s Got To Be Some Fantastic Way”

Michael Douglas wanted to have a “serious” death scene in 2023’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and requested his character be killed off.

As the actor promoted his Apple TV+ series Franklin, Douglas opened up about the Marvel film in which he played Dr. Hank Pym. Ahead of the third film in the Ant-Man saga, the actor said he asked for his character to die.

“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said on The View. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”

He continued, “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was directed by Peyton Reed and written by Jeff Loveness. The film starred Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, David Dastmalchian, Katy O’Brian, William Jackson Harper, Bill Murray, Corey Stoll and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Douglas originated the role of Hank Pym in the 2015 film Ant-Man and would reprise it in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. His last appearance as Hank Pym was in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
