EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has an exclusive clip of the Tribeca Festival premiering film Bang Bang.
Directed by Vincent Grashaw, with a script penned by Will Janowitz, the film stars Tim Blake Nelson (The Ballard of Buster Scruggs), Glenn Plummer (Speed), Andrew Liner (Gray Matter), Kevin Corrigan (The Departed), Nina Arianda (Being The Ricardos), Erica Gimpel (Fame 1982-1987), and Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World Dominion).
Bang Bang follows Bernard Rozyski, better known as “Bang Bang,” a beloved prizefighter boxer riding high on his success. These days, he’s angry and closed off, living in his grungy house in a blue-collar Detroit neighborhood. When Bang Bang’s estranged daughter unexpectedly drops her troublemaking teenage son off at his doorstep, it gives the bitter old man a chance at personal redemption as he trains the potential-laden kid in the ring. Problems arise when the former champ’s past demons have other plans, forcing Bang Bang to confront everything he’s tried so hard to suppress. Is Bang Bang merely passing down inherited rage, or is there true altruism behind his tutelage?
Along with Grashaw, and Janowitz, the film is also produced by Ran Namerode, Angelia Adzic, and Cole Payne. Tim Blake Nelson, Jesse Ozeri, Nicolaas Bertelsen, Dane Eckerle serve as executive producers.
Bang Bang is set to premiere on June 11.
