I’ve Been Wearing This Perfume For 10 Years – Everyone Wants To Know What It Is Because It Smells SO Good

If I’m being honest, I can be quite difficult when it comes to perfume. Sometimes I don’t wear perfume at all for weeks, then I go through a phase where I can’t go anywhere without it. Either way, I only own five fragrances because I think it’s important to have a signature scent.

That’s why all my fragrances are similar. What’s more, they can all be layered on top of the one perfume that everyone always asks me about. So I have a choice for every occasion – for example, heavier fragrances in the evening or in winter, and light, fresh summer scents in summer. But thanks to my unique blend, my fragrance always remains individual.

What makes my fragrance so special

So what’s so special about the perfume everyone always asks me about? For starters, it’s not a classic fragrance with heart, base and top notes. That’s because Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 consists of just one single molecule, known as Iso E Super, which master perfumer Geza Schoen created in a laboratory.

Designed to intensify your skin’s unique natural scent, “Iso E Super transforms on the skin into an indescribable aura that surrounds its wearer,” reads the fragrance’s marketing description. Specifically, it is based on cedar wood but smells a little like a fresh shower or an addictive musky scent. Geza also describes it as being “comforting and cocooning”.

If you want to familiarise yourself with the fragrance first, go for the small size. But beware, after a short time you’ll definitely have a larger bottle in your cupboard because the molecule really is addictive.

This is the effect the perfume has on others

Apart from the Iso E Super molecule, there are no other fragrance notes in Escentric Molecules Molecule 01. Anyone wearing the perfume for the first time will notice that you don’t smell it on yourself all the time.

To the wearer, it seems to disappear, only to reappear again. This is due to the way the molecule binds to the receptors in the olfactory system – where scents directly communicate with the emotional and memory centres of the brain. It slowly dissolves before giving way to a new charge of the molecule, so you are constantly surprised by a fresh burst of the fragrance throughout the day.

Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 has an even stronger effect on other people. Whether in the bar at night or at breakfast with friends – everyone always asks me what smells so good. When I admit that it’s my perfume, everyone immediately wants to know exactly which fragrance it is.

The perfume also has an aphrodisiac effect. Men flirt with me a lot whenever I wear it. Whether this is always desirable is, of course, debatable! Either way, personally, I wouldn’t want to be without my molecule, because it’s almost part of my DNA – and it really gives me the cosy feeling that the perfumer had set out to create.

I also like to layer Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 with other musky scents if I want something more. These include fresh fragrances such as Miss Dior Eau de Parfum with peony, lily of the valley and musk; Sunset Riot by Allsaints with pink pepper, orange blossom, freesia and musk. If you want something heavier, I recommend Narciso Rodriguez For Her with coriander, musk and patchouli.
