Vigilantes Anime Release Date Set for MHA Spin-off

TOHO Animation has announced that My Hero Academia will officially be getting its first spin-off series, titled My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. It is based on the manga series by writer Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrator Betten Court, which takes place five years before the events of Kōhei Horikoshi’s original manga series.

“Set in a superpowered society where trained and licensed heroes protect the public from supervillains,” reads the anime’s official synopsis. “The series follows Koichi Haimawari, a young man who uses his abilities to aid others, despite not being a licensed hero.”

When is the Vigilantes anime release date?

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is scheduled to start airing in Japan sometime in April 2025. The spin-off will be animated by Japanese animation studio Bones Inc. Further details about its cast and crew are still currently under wraps. Besides Vigilantes, the eighth and final season of My Hero Academia is also expected to be released in the Fall of 2025.

The original anime takes place in a world where most people are born with powers called quirks. The story revolves around a quirkless but brave young boy named Izuku Midoriya aka Deku, who gets chosen to become the number one hero’s rightful successor of his power called One-For-All. The series chronicles his journey to becoming the number one, while facing grave threats from the League of Villains and All Might’s nemesis All-For-One.

My Hero Academia features the voices of Daiki Yamashita as Deku, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Bakugo/Dynamight, Yuki Kaji as Shoto Todoroki, Ayane Sakura as Uravity, Kaito Ishikawa as Ingenium, Marina Inoue as Creati, Toshiki Masuda as Red Riot, Eri Kitamura as Pinky, Aoi Yūki as Froppy, Ryō Hirohashi as Grape Juice, Tasuku Hatanaka as Chargebolt, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Tsukuyomi, Kei Shindō as Earphone Jack, Kiyotaka Furushima as Cellophane, Kenta Miyake as All Might, Tetsu Inada as Endeavor, and more.
