Chandler Bing has been voted the best Friends character – so do you agree?

Friends has been ingrained in our culture – and conversations – ever since it first aired over 25 years ago in 1994 (yep, we feel old too). But one debate about the long-revered TV show still remains: who is the best character?

Whether you see yourself as more of a Type-A, mother of the group Monica, a laidback Phoebe, a career-ladder climbing Rachel, a friendly Joey or a funny Chandler, there will always be a character you relate to more. Did I mention I have a long-standing vendetta against Ross?

Well, if your favourite is Chandler then you can feel validated. The aptly-named ranking site Ranker.com has found that the majority of us cite Chandler as the best friends character.

Since the list was originally posted to Ranker in May last year, it has received over 147,000 voted, and Chandler has been voted the fan fave by more than 2,500 votes.

Chandler’s total currently stands at 10,056 votes, Joey comes in second with 7,531 votes. Phoebe is third, with 6,535 votes and Rachel is fourth with 5,793 votes.

Phoebe’s husband Mike is listed as fourth, but if we’re only counting the core cast then Monica is fifth and Ross is currently (and rightly) in last place.

Monica and Ross’s dad, Jack Geller, perennial love interest Janice and unlucky-in-love Gunther make up the top 10.

Other notable additions include Dr Richard Burke, Ugly Naked Guy, Joey’s agent Estelle, Ross’ pet monkey Marcel as well as his son, Ben.

Love interests that feature include Phoebe’s star-crossed lover, David, Rachel’s high school enemy Will (the excellent cameo by Brad Pitt) and Ross’ ex-wife, Carol.

While the list is still live meaning it’s subject to change, we can’t help but feel the neutral Chandler really is the best character of the lot. What do you think?
