Every Time Lady Gaga Clapped Back At Inappropriate Interview Questions

It seems only yesterday that Lady Gaga burst onto the scene and casually changed the course of pop history – and high-fashion villains (see Patrizia Reggiani and Harley Quinn) – forever.

15 years (and 13 Grammys) later, the multi-hyphenate is celebrating her 37th birthday. In her honour, we’ve taken at some of her greatest clap-backs to sexist interview questions.

One unearthed clip from a 2009 interview has gone viral, showing a 23-year-old Gaga being asked if she’s “scared that having sexual references can undermine music.” Clearly irked by the comment, she disagrees before responding to her next question that “the gay community” has been the biggest thrill of her career so far.

When asked why, she promptly responds: “‘Cause I love them so much. Because they don’t ask me questions like that. Because they love sexual, strong women who speak their mind.”

She powerfully adds: “You see, if I was a guy and I was sitting here with a cigarette in my hands grabbing my crotch talking about how I make music because I like fast cars and f**king girls, you’d call me a rock star. But when I do it in my music and video because I’m a female and I make pop music, you’re judgemental and say it’s distracting. I’m just a rock star.”

And that’s how it’s done, folks.

But get this: that’s not the only time Lady Gaga has clapped back at inappropriate questions from her interviewers. Let us not forget the sickening amount of times she had to respond to probing comments about her body after stories surfaced about her gender.

In one clip from her famous interview with Anderson Cooper in 2011, we see Gaga reply to his question about rumours that she has a “male appendage” and that she’s “a hermaphrodite”. Jeez.
