This month, not only are we celebrating International Women’s Day on 8 March, but it’s also GLAMOUR UK’s 20th anniversary: two decades of being a proud feminist leader – nay, force! – championing women and campaigning for equality and justice. So what better way to mark both these occasions than with the return of the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards – albeit virtually, cos you know, Covid.
We all know that we’re living in ‘unprecedented times’, and in the past 12 months, never has there been more to shout about: from diminishing gender equality due to the pandemic to the global groundswell of fury in the wake of George Floyd’s death to protecting our precious planet.
It has never been more important for us to speak up and incite positive change. This is why we have rebranded the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards 2021: The Gamechangers.
“In a year of great change, we are thrilled to be celebrating those who have incited change, not only in their chosen fields, but also on the world stage: altering the conversation through activism and empowerment. This is why we’ve named 2021’s Awards: The Gamechangers,” says GLAMOUR UK Editor-in-Chief, Deborah Joseph.
So, how do you get in on the action, watch the Awards show and find out who our epic list of winners is? Scroll down to find out everything you need to know about GLAMOUR’s Women of The Year Awards 2021: The Gamechangers.
What is the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards?
The GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards is internationally recognised in honouring extraordinary and inspirational women from all walks of life: politicians to pop stars, actors to athletes and past winners have included: Serena Williams, Angelina Jolie, Adele, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Hudson.
Today the role and perception of celebrity has shifted; in 2021 it has become of paramount importance for those in the public eye to use their platforms for good. So while all our 2021 winners may be exceptional in their chosen fields, they are even more exceptional in their global gamechanging.
The GLAMOUR Women of The Year Awards 2021: The Gamechangers will honour women who have broken down barriers, incited change and campaigned for justice throughout their careers, right now and as we move into the future.
Through a careful process, our selection panel has chosen 20 categories – 19 women and one man – of winners who have not only excelled in their given field, but have proven gamechanging on the global stage. Powerful, inspirational humans who have chosen to use their platform to incite and cause meaningful change to society, either over the course of their careers, or in recent months.
