Hibiscus Nails Are A Tropical Summer Holiday In A Manicure

Best believe the whole GLAMOUR office was #influenced when our social media editor, Robyn, walked in with a fresh set of hibiscus nails. For background, we regularly wait with bated breath when Robyn forewarns us she’ll be arriving with a fresh mani because it’s always so damn good.

So, when we got a flash of tropical pink, lagoon green and orchid purple we knew we were onto our next fave mani trend.

Now that 3D nail art has reached our favourite salons, we’ve noticed a whole new wave of creativity in manicures, but one in particular are the 3D flower nails that – since that stunning intro from Robyn – have dominated our Insta feed and fyp.

Hibiscus nails and other beachy flower nails, like orchids, have emerged as one of the biggest (and most mood-boosting) nail trends of summer 2024. They’re heavy on tropical escapism and vacay vibes, which is exactly what we need, even when we’re clacking away on our keyboards in the office.

It’s also an opportunity for nail artists to flex their creative talents. One creator, Anouska Anastasia, took followers behind the scenes of her tropical 3D flower mani to show the intricacy and artistry that can go into creating a bespoke floral mani.

She hand-painted each petal onto a clear sheet using white gel polish from OPI’s new GelColor Intelli-Gel range (which she cured to set), then used a fine detailer brush to add in all the details. She used tweezers to curl the centre of her flowers in to create a realistic-looking orchid.
