Ice Spice Swapped Her Afro for Pin-Straight, Butt-Length Hair at the BET Awards — See Photos

On Sunday, June 25, the 2023 BET Awards took place in Los Angeles, where celebrities including Coco Jones, Latto, and Beyoncé took home awards between performances from Lil Uzi Vert, Migos, and many others. Thankfully, the famous folks kept us entertained with their glam looks, too — Ice Spice left her signature curly ‘fro at home in favour of pin-straight ginger glory the length of a CVS receipt.

The rapper attended the annual music event in an all-black ensemble, including a mesh gown and strappy heels, alongside her miles-long straight hair, the result of a wig styled by Kadijah Blade. The very tips of this bright orange hair touched her butt. This wig was slick and pin-straight without a hair out of place, thanks to Dyson’s Airstrait and Got2B’s Blasting Freeze Spray. Blade used the hot tool in dry mode at 285 degrees before following up with Dyson’s Airwrap MultiStyler to ensure the hair was straighter than a razor. After, she spritzed Got2B’s Blasting Freeze Spray for a longer-lasting style.

This vibrant orange hair wasn’t just straight but glossier than all get-out, too. Blade kept the styling minimal with a middle part and styled Ice Spice’s baby hairs into light swoops using Got2B’s Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Gel to keep them in place.

As for her makeup, she worked with makeup artist Karina Milan, who kept her look glowy and neutral with a thin cat eye, sculpted cheeks, and a shimmery sheen on her cheekbones. She painted the rapper’s lips with a lip gloss.

We have come to know and love Ice Spice for her bright ginger ringlets, but we can’t deny that this long, pin-straight hair is an exciting change.
