Is Eleven responsible for the Upside Down? Millie Bobby Brown responds to Stranger Things fan theory

From Vecna supposedly being present since season 1 to the school counsellor having something to do with the evil in Hawkins, Stranger Things‘ season 4 vol.1 has given way to a spate of fan theories.

But one Stranger Things theory, in particular, has caught the attention of the Netflix series’ leading lady, Millie Bobby Brown.

So apparently, some loyal viewers think Millie’s character Eleven was accidentally responsible for creating the parallel dimension to the human world, the Upside Down.

While fans continue to set social media ablaze with the supposed plot twist, Millie had her own say on the theory.

“This is too big of a debate for me to answer,” Millie said. “I’m so worried. I think – no, no, no. I think that the alternate universe was always there. That is always going to be under Hawkins.”

She added to Variety: “I just think she has access to it. I don’t think that she created the Upside Down. No, I think that it was always there, I think she just created a gate to it which no one could before.”

Millie spoke further on what viewers could expect from the second volume – which has just released its official full-length trailer.

“These two episodes really give you an insight on this heroine coming to life and letting Eleven do what she needs to do in order to save her friends.”

Regarding the theory of her creating the Upside Down, what have fans been saying about it?

One tweeted: “Eleven literally opened the gate to the Upside Down, making her primarily responsible for all the calamity that have befallen Hawkins ever since. #StrangerThings.”

Others were also left confused as one person tweeted: “Was the Upside Down already there or did Eleven create it? #StrangerThings.”

Nonetheless, we’re sure we’ll get our answers as Vol.2 drops on July 1.

In the full-length trailer released by Netflix, Dr. Brenner tells Eleven that she and her friends will not be able to save the city of Hawkins.

We also see Nancy (Natalia Dyer) coming face to face with Vecna in the Hawkins Lab, while in a Russian Lab, Hopper, Joyce, and Murray face the threat of the dreaded Shadow Monster.

With all these monsters ready to cause mass destruction, the trailer sees the gang coming together to (hopefully) put an end to the misery in Hawkins.

We are so ready!
