Millie Bobby Brown may have only just turned 17 (!), but she’s already cemented herself as a style icon. The Stranger Things star is no, erm, stranger to a playful beauty look, but we think her latest might just be our favourite.
Posting to Instagram on Monday, Millie shared a selfie that showed her sitting in a car, denim jacket on, with her blonde bob styled into high pigtails – and it’s giving us serious ’90s vibes.
While the star may have missed the ’90s entirely (she was born in 2004, and yep we’re feeling really old too!), this style is the epitome of Emma Bunton’s Baby Spice – even down to the face-framing thin strands left to hang loose at the front.
It’s not the first time Millie has channeled a ’90s vibe. The actress recently posted a picture of herself with her hair tied up with a scrunchie, and the front of her hair parted down the middle and clipped into place with some candy-hued barrettes. If only we’d had Millie around for fashion inspo in the ’90s, when we were busy sporting dodgy eyeliner and baggy jeans!
Plus, young Milly has clearly been a fan of the pigtail look for a while as well, having rocked a similar style on her grid back in October last year (above).
While Millennials and Gen X-ers may have lived through the decade where we got to unironically sport jelly sandals, wear bike shorts and baggy jumpers as everyday wear and our sunglasses were thinner than our eyebrows, it seems Gen Z has been taking cues from the ’90s to influence their style for the past few years. Hence the return of ‘mom’ jeans, the claw clip, curtain bangs and the dreaded mullet.
Before we know it, we may just be asking for ‘the Rachel’ at our next hair appointment …
