Sun-kissed blush is summer’s prettiest, It-girl-approved makeup trend

“The ‘sun-kissed’ blush look is huge right now because trends in makeup are moving away from overdone to fresh and natural on the skin—the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic, if you will,” celebrity makeup artist Cortney Hart tells GLAMOUR. “A flushed apple on the cheek that carries over the bridge of the nose is youthful, playful, and reminiscent of a long day on the beach. It’s chic and effortless and perfect for summer.”

When it comes to technique, there are two things to take into consideration: the tone of your blush and placement. “It’s best to use warm rosy tones that look similar to how the sun or maybe some exercise would cause your skin to flush. It really does depend on your skin tone,” says Courtney. “I like to use creamy and slightly sheer formulas to keep the look glowy and natural.” She recommends MAC Glow Play Blush in Blush, Please, while TikTok likes Elf Putty Blush in Maldives. A lipstick or stain (like Noto Botanic’s) is also great for that natural, lived-in vibe.

The placement is what really sets sun-kissed blush apart from the other blush trends circulating right now. Instead of up on your cheekbones, place blush on the spots where you naturally burn. “This look is achieved by carrying your blush high on the apples of the cheek and across the bridge of your nose,” says Courtney. “I like to blend slightly downward to mimic the sun.”
