This nostalgic trainer is making a comeback and here’s why they should be your next purchase (plus the best ones to buy RN)

Remember when Converse were all that everyone wore? Practical and comfy, they were the perfect go-to for dressing down an outfit or making a summer dress look a bit more tomboy. When everyone went through their ‘emo’ phase (no? Just me?) they were the trainers of choice for showing your edgier side.

We are so here for the fact that they’re making a comeback – though, to be honest, I didn’t even realise they’d gone away – and that they are once again having their fashion moment. After a year of wearing slippers my tootsies are beyond excited to wear something a little more supportive, but the idea of slipping into a pair of heels is one I’d rather not think about just yet. Right now, we’re all about joining the bandwagon when it comes to falling in love with Converse again, so we’ve rounded up the best-selling and on-trend styles for women to wear this summer and beyond.

When it comes to choosing a pair of Converse, it all comes down to how high you want the ankle and whether you prefer a flatform sole or something lower. Do you dare to go with a bold colour to offset your loungewear, or are you more minimalist? You can elevate your ensemble by sticking to a coherent colour palette (we’re looking at you white T-shirt and matching white trainers), or you can go for a clash – no judgement here!

Which Converse should you buy now that they’re on-trend again?

I maintain that a pair of Converse’s Chuck Taylor All Stars will see you through the best of your years. The best part? They go with everything. Grab a handbag and some sunglasses to match and you’re guaranteed to look ultra cool. Balenciaga is doing the rounds in the trainer realm right now, as are Gucci, but if you’re looking for something a *little* lower in price (but no less stylish) then Converse is your brand.

As of late, however, I’ve been seeing all my favourite influencers rocking a pair of Converse x Comme Des Garçons styles. Bridging the gap between designer trainers and high street offerings, they also make for a modern finish to smarter/more tailored edits. And we can’t not mention Converse’s Lugged Chucks, they more than hit the mark on the all-important chunky scale. Whichever style you go for – be it a patterned, neon, mesh, or an all black pair – your Converse will soon become your faves (again).
