Maybe I’m just getting old or maybe it’s because we’ve spent roughly five months of the past year primarily confined to our houses (I’m praying it’s the latter) but my friends, colleagues and myself all seem to be spending a good portion of our pay checks on grown-up homeware buys. Sure, a fabulous new coat or a pair of boots make for fun purchases, but at this point, how much use are you really going to get out of them? Some chic glassware, an accent chair, a calming essential oil diffuser or some luxurious new bath towels on the other hand… Now we’re talking.
While we are really looking forward to lockdown lifting, there is something to be said for spending the cold, dreary months at the start of the year cocooned in our homes. Without having meetings to rush out to and bars to drag ourselves back from, our homes have become a little sanctuary from the COVID crazy world, and that means we’re all *a lot* more interested than our interiors and homewares.
I’m not only talking about big investment purchases like a mattress or sofa, but the small, homeware purchases you’ll get enjoyment out of using daily. And is there anything more wonderful than a cup of coffee – whether it be in bed or as you kick off your workday at your desk – *especially* if it’s out of a stylish mug? We’ve already adapted from our latte-on-the-go mentality of before, and have happily embraced an at-home coffee machine (life-changing) and signed up to the best coffee subscriptions so we’re never low on our caffeine fix. Now it’s time to take this your daily latte/flat white/filter coffee to the next level, with our edit of the best coffee mugs out there.
Because, not all coffee mugs are created equally. We’re *pretty sure* it would be backed by science, but even the best flat white will taste even better if it’s sipped out of a chic coffee mug like this pastel and gold accented one from Graham & Green or a speckled, body-shaped cup (a steal at £7.)
For the forgetful or super-busy, our edit even includes a temperature regulating mug; it might be a bit of an investment at £94, but when you think about how many coffees get made, only to be left to get cold as you tend to the kids or reply to an email, it’ll land up paying for itself over time. And promise, we won’t tell if you use your new coffee mug for the occasional cuppa too.
