Doomsday Star Says MCU Movie Won’t Be a Cameo Fest

Marvel fans don’t need to worry about Avengers: Doomsday being nothing more than a cameo fest.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie is scheduled to be released in United States theaters at the end of this year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.

So far, Marvel has released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is officially returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth and final teaser put the spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, and more.

What did Lewis Pullman say about Avengers: Doomsday?

Given the size of Avengers: Doomsday’s cast, some MCU fans have expressed concern that the movie will be nothing more than a bunch of cameos where some of the supporting characters get little screen time.

Lewis Pullman, who is reprising his role as Bob Reynolds/Sentry in the film after debuting in 2025’s Thunderbolts*, is now reassuring fans that this won’t be the case.

He told Esquire Magazine, “It’s going back to the serum of the human archetypes that our art is built off of. Every character has their moment that builds the dimensions of them. The Russo brothers did that so well. They do not want anyone just sitting in the background. They really took to heart the responsibility of having some of the best actors in the world all together. There’s a lot of really exciting pair-ups that happen. A lot of fans will be really excited. It’s so fun to dream about. What if A and B would work together? Would B and D would work together? You get to see a lot of those fantasies come into fruition.”

Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027.
