If you just picked up Mario Tennis Fever, your favorite character might already be unlocked. If you’re a Mario fan, you’re in luck, as he’s available from the start in just about every Nintendo sports game.
Fans of, say, Birdo, however, might need to go through a bit more legwork. Here are all the unlock requirements for Mario Tennis Fever’s roster.
How To Unlock Every Mario Tennis Fever Character
There’s A Good Chunk Of Characters
Here is the roster available by default in Mario Tennis Fever, which amounts to 18 characters:

- Princess Peach

- Pauline

- Waluigi
- Toad
- Toadette
- Luma

As you can see, some fan-favorites are in there, as well as some of the usual suspects from prior Mario sports titles. Pauline has also risen up the ranks since Mario Odyssey, almost becoming a new de facto character.

- Kamek – Play 1 tennis match
- Spike – Play 5 tennis matches
- Diddy Kong – Play 10 tennis matches
- Chain Chomp – Play 20 tennis matches
- Birdo – Play 30 tennis matches
- Koopa Paratroopa – Play 40 tennis matches
- Petey Piranha – Play 50 tennis matches
- Piranha Plant – Clear Piranha Plant challenges in score challenges on advanced difficulty
- Boom Boom – Clear the Tower of Resolve in Trial Towers
- Blooper – Clear 4P co-op Ring Shot in score challenges on advanced difficulty
- Dry Bowser – Clear the Tower of Trickery in Trial Towers
- Dry Bones – Clear Auto Tennis in Score Challenges on advanced difficulty
- Baby Mario – Win the singles Mushroom Cup tournament
- Baby Luigi – Win the doubles Mushroom Cup tournament
- Baby Peach – Win the singles Flower Cup tournament
- Wiggler – Clear 2P co-op Ring Shot in score challenges on advanced difficulty
- Nabbit – Win the doubles Flower Cup tournament
- Goomba – Clear the Tower of Growth in Trial Towers
- Baby Wario – Win the singles Star Cup tournament
- Baby Waluigi – Win the doubles Star Cup Tournament
Keep in mind that none of the requirements are particularly taxing or tough to find. They’re spread across multiple modes, but they’re all easily accessible from the main menu.
Unlocking Them All Will Take Time
But It’s Not Impossible
If you’re keen on unlocking your favorite character for Mario Tennis Fever, it won’t take too long to snag each individual roster member of your choice. Just make sure you’re surgically attacking them bit by bit to favor your top people.
If you ever need to see your unlock progress, Mario Tennis Fever makes things pretty easy. You’ll just need to go to the achievements portion of the main menu (in the lower right-hand corner), then select “characters.”
