Is Arcane Over or Will There Be More Seasons?

Arcane, the highly praised, Emmy and Annie Award-winning adult animated series set in the League of Legends universe and created by Riot Games, has captivated millions of viewers with its compelling narrative. Fans are now eagerly awaiting confirmation about the conclusion of Arcane and whether additional League of Legends series will follow.

Let’s explore all the details about Arcane’s future.

Has Arcane ended after Season 2?

Yes, Arcane will conclude with Season 2.

This is sadly true. Fans were disheartened when Riot Games announced shortly after Season 1 that the second season would be the final chapter. However, the creators believe that the story of Arcane needs a fulfilling and cohesive conclusion. They are confident that everything they envisioned for the series will be fully realized within its two seasons.

Extending the series further, they argue, could compromise the powerful narrative and essence of the League of Legends universe. For them, maintaining the integrity of the story is more important than prolonging it unnecessarily.

Could there be more Arcane Seasons or League of Legends shows?

There are currently no plans for additional seasons of Arcane. However, there is hope that the creators may explore new narratives and introduce fresh elements to the League of Legends universe in the future.

While the show will end with Season 2, there is hope for future stories in the League of Legends universe. Co-creator Christian Linke hinted in a June 2024 YouTube video that Arcane is “just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.” He emphasized that the series was envisioned as a self-contained story but is the first of many planned narratives in Runeterra.

The show’s success has been remarkable. Season 1 earned a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.0 on IMDb, becoming Netflix’s best-rated original series. Despite its acclaim, creators Christian Linke and Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent felt ending with Season 2 preserves the story’s integrity, avoiding unnecessary extensions that could dilute its impact.

The final season of Arcane premieres November 2024 on Netflix.
