Jimmy Kimmel Discusses Elon Musk’s Plan To Reverse Former President Donald Trump’s Twitter Ban

Tonight On Jimmy Kimmel Live, discusses Elon Musk’s comments on reversing the former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Twitter ban.

“Speaking of babies – Elon Musk says that – if his deal to buy Twitter goes through – he will reverse the ban on our infant former President – Donald Trump,” said Kimmel.

The billionaire first announced his intention to acquire Twitter for $54.20 a share on April 14. The idea wasn’t initially looked fondly on by the social media service’s Board of Directors, which went so far as to adopt a limited-duration shareholder rights plan, or “poison pill”, to dissuade him from attempting to take over the company. Still, within two weeks, he’d successfully closed a deal to acquire Twitter for $44 billion.

Musk said banning Trump from Twitter,  “was a morally bad decision to be clear – and foolish in the extreme.”

Kimmel jokes, “Oh good – we have the part-time DJ who makes flamethrowers and cars that fart in charge of morality now.”

He continues stating his reason as to why the public shouldn’t trust Musk’s judgment. “The guy who named his kids Roman numerals will make sure they don’t do anything foolish!”

Musk spoke to former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and they were in agreement that permanent Twitter suspensions should be reserved for bots or spam accounts.

“It was not correct to ban Donald Trump,” Musk said. “I think that was a mistake. It alienated a large part of the country.”

Musk cautioned that his proposed takeover of Twitter — in which he would take the company private — was still “not a done deal” and that in the “best case scenario” the transaction would be completed in two or three months.
