NBA YoungBoy Released from Prison & Transferred to Unknown Location — Report

Wondering what’s really going on with NBA YoungBoy’s release from prison? On March 24, unexpected news emerged, with reports claiming the rapper was already out—well ahead of his scheduled date. Whether you’ve been following his legal battles closely or just caught the headlines, this development raises major questions.

Here’s what we know so far about his reported release and what it could mean moving forward.

Is NBA YoungBoy released from prison?

NBA YoungBoy, also known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, has reportedly been released from Talladega Federal Correctional Institution in Alabama (via HotNewHipHop).

Although the prison and his attorney have not confirmed it, multiple sources suggest YoungBoy is no longer in custody. DJ Akademiks, court records, and social media posts from affiliates support this claim. His release was expected on April 26, 2025, but he was reportedly freed a month early and moved to an undisclosed location, possibly a halfway house or his home.

“UHHHHHH OHHHHH MY BABY IS BACK HOMMMEEEEEEE,” wrote NBA affiliate OG 3Three on Instagram Stories. Rich The Kid also posted “YB Free!!!” on X. The Federal Bureau of Prisons moved YoungBoy’s scheduled release date from July 27, 2025, to April 26, 2025. With time served, he reportedly served 11 months of his 23-month sentence.

Authorities arrested YoungBoy on April 16, 2024, at his Utah home for running a prescription drug fraud ring and possessing firearms as a convicted felon. He was already under house arrest for a separate gun case in Louisiana. In November 2024, he pleaded guilty to 10 drug-related charges and received a suspended sentence and a $25,000 fine. In December, he pleaded guilty to the firearm charge and received a 23-month sentence.

He is now under five years of supervised release, which includes conditions such as up to six monthly drug and alcohol tests and completion of mental health and substance abuse evaluations. His attorney, Drew Findling, previously stated, “People are going to be shocked at how quickly he’ll be out… So, it all may work out for him.” NBA YoungBoy has not publicly addressed his release at this time.
