The theatrical release calendar may remain in question as the industry weathers the pandemic, however, Universal, which has been devoted to the big screen experience throughout it all, is confident that their M. Night Shyamalan thriller, Old, will open on July 23 this year. The studio, which has always had a presence during previous Big Games with trailers for F9, Jurassic World, and Skyscraper, revealed what Shyamalan’s new movie is all about.
The filmmaker has been teasing the pic bit by bit over the past week on Twitter, with the set-up looking like a family’s trip to the beach that goes sideways. It brings back memories of that Brady Bunch 2-part episode where the Brady Boys find a bad-luck tiny totem in Hawaii, which leads to Greg tumbling off his surfboard, and the sudden appearance of a tarantula.
Thomasin McKenzie, Rufus Sewell, Embeth Davidtz, Abbey Lee, Eliza Scanlon, Alex Wolff, Gael Garcia Bernal and Ken Leung star in Old.
