Charli XCX is the subject of a New York profile, written by Brock Colyar, and, in the interview, the British artist teases new music and projects. The article also includes this noteworthy passage: “‘Oyyyyy … ummmm … ugh. Yeah, sorry. I’m a little discombobulated this morning.’ She spent last night in the studio working with Bon Iver and Danielle Haim and tells me she’s feeling dehydrated.”
Elsewhere, Charli XCX says that she’s been working on a forthcoming film with Jeremy O. Harris and also teases a potential new “full-length other project” that is “definitely in the bratosphere, so to speak.” Head to New York for the full feature.
Charli XCX and Danielle Haim previously collaborated on the Charli single “Warm.” And, while neither artist has released music with Bon Iver, Haim has publicly discussed her desire to work with Justin Vernon.
“I kind of want to get on the phone with Bon Iver,” she said in a 2020 interview with The Forty-Five. “I heard he has an amazing studio in Wyoming. I’ve met him maybe once or twice.” (Haim was likely referring to Vernon’s April Base recording studio in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.)
She continued, “Yeah, we’ve never done a record in the woods. Bon Iver, we want to road trip to your compound.”
Years later, in 2022, Danielle Haim appeared to take that road trip because the producer Jim-E Stack posted a photo of her and Vernon recording together at April Base.
Since the release of Brat, in June, Charli XCX has released the noteworthy remixes “Girl, So Confusing Featuring Lorde” and “Guess Featuring Billie Eilish.”
