Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service united onstage last night to cover Depeche Mode’s 1990 classic “Enjoy the Silence,” as Stereogum points out. Dntel and Jenny Lewis, who complete the Postal Service lineup on Benjamin Gibbard’s double-duty tour, came out during the encore of the tour opener at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. Watch it happen below.

The tour, which includes full-album performances of both Give Up and Transatlanticism, celebrates the 20th anniversaries of those records. Upon announcing the dates, Gibbard said, “I know for a fact I will never have a year again like 2003. The Postal Service record came out; Transatlanticism came out. These two records will be on my tombstone, and I’m totally fine with that. I’ve never had a more creatively inspired year.”
