billy woods—one-half of NYC hip-hop duo Armand Hammer—is back with a new album made with Messiah Musik. Church is out now via Backwoodz Studioz. The 12-song LP includes contributions from Armand Hammer’s Elucid, Bruiser Brigade’s Fat Ray, Akai Solo, and Fielded. Longtime Armand Hammer collaborator Messiah Musik produced the entirety of the new record, except for “Fever Grass,” which was co-produced by woods. Listen to Church below.

According to press materials, Church is an exploration of memory, faith, marijuana, and fate, as well as “the price of love and the cost of doing business.” The new album was executive produced by woods, engineered by Steel Tipped Dove, and mixed and mastered by Willie Green at the Greenhouse.

Church follows Woods’ solo LP Aethiopes, which arrived earlier this year. In late 2020, the rapper teamed up with avant-garde poet and musician Moor Mother for BRASS. Last year, Armand Hammer teamed up with the Alchemist for their joint LP Haram. Woods kicks off a tour behind Aethiopes next month.
