The National’s Bryce Dessner Announces Classical Album Impermanence/Disintegration

The National’s Bryce Dessner has announced a new classical album with the Australian String Quartet. Impermanence/Disintegration is out April 2 via 37d03d. Below, find the movements “Emergency” and “Impermanence.”

Dessner composed Impermanence for the Sydney Dance Company, which the company is performing this month at Sydney’s Roslyn Packer Theatre Walsh Bay before taking the piece to the Adelaide Festival in March. Rafael Bonachela choreographed Impermanence. The dance piece, as well as Dessner’s album, concludes with a string arrangement of ANOHNI’s “Another World.”

Violinists Dale Barltrop and Francesca Hiew, violist Stephen King, and guest cellist Rachael Tobin comprise the Australian String Quartet. Impernance/Disintegration also features electronics and mixing from frequent Dessner collaborator David Chalmin.

Last year, Bryce Dessner contributed to Taylor Swift’s folklore and evermore. The previous year he released four albums: El Chan, When We Are Inhuman, the score The Kitchen, and his music for The Two Popes.
