Watch Foo Fighters Debut New Song, Introduce Drummer on Tour Rehearsal Livestream

They played recent singles “Rescued” and “Under You” as well as the unreleased track “Nothing at All” with new drummer Josh Freese

Foo Fighters: Preparing Music For Concerts, a studio session recorded at the Foo Fighters’ 606 studios in Northridge, California, streamed earlier today (May 21). The stream included behind-the-scenes footage and the debut performances of songs from their 11th album But Here We Are, due out June 2. Check it out here on-demand through May 24. Find the setlist from Foo Fighters’ rehearsal below.

During the livestream, Foo Fighters introduced their new drummer Josh Freese, but only after a teasing that other famous drummers would replace the late Taylor Hawkins. The humorous intro featured cameos from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith (a close friend of Hawkins), Tommy Lee, and Tool’s Danny Carey.

Foo Fighters played an eight-song set during their rehearsal, which was shot in black and white. In addition to classics like “All My Life” and “Monkey Wrench,” they played their recent singles “Rescued” and “Under You” as well as an unreleased track called “Nothing at All,” both of which appear on But Here We Are.

The band also joked around, briefly playing riffs from Huey Lewis and the News’ “Workin’ for a Livin’” and discussing unfortunate fashion trends of the 1980s. At one point, Grohl admitted that he used to wear a pink polo windbreaker in 1984. Guitarist Chris Shiflett remembered another sartorial tragedy of that decade: “Members Only jackets and parachute pants were the poor man’s leather,” he opined.

The band also verbally broke down drum parts, discussed Freese’s childhood job as a drummer in band that played at Disneyland, and tried to think of names for their one-hour rehearsal special. “Just Playin’ Some Tunes With the Guys,” was a popular option.

But Here We Are is Foo Fighters’ first album since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022. They announced the LP with the single “Rescued”; they have since shared the single “Under You.”

The band is set to headline Riot Fest in Chicago in September. Their last full-length of original music was 2021’s Medicine at Midnight. They shared the Bee Gees cover album Dee Gees – Hail Satin later that year.
