Three out of four Sex And The City stars to reunite for new show

Three out of four of the stars of Sex And The City will reunite for a new show that revisits the iconic characters 20 years on.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have agreed to star in And Just Like That – a 10-episode series on HBO Max, the network said on Sunday.

Production of the new show will begin in the spring, it added.

It will see the characters of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York Goldenblatt back together again for the first time since 2010 when the film Sex And The City 2 hit cinemas.

But Kim Cattrall and her character Samantha Jones will be notably absent from the new series.

The Canadian-American actress publicly hit out at her former co-star Jessica Parker following the death of her brother in 2018.

She told the actress she “didn’t need her love and support” and that her mother had referred to her as a “hypocrite”.

“Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend.

“So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona,” she wrote at the time.

She then added a link to a New York Post article entitled: “Inside the mean-girls culture that destroyed ‘Sex and the City’.”

HBO has not commented on why Cattrall is not part of the new project.

But the network’s head of original content, Sarah Aubrey, said: “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them.”

Sex And The City first aired in 1998 and ran for six seasons until 2004, before two films were made about the characters in 2008 and 2010.
