In a recent share on social media, Esposito could be seen in tears as she revealed to fans that she had to sell her New York home. She previously purchased the home with her third husband, Jesper Vesterstrøm. As Esposito shared, “Yeah, I’m looking like a** right now because I’ve been crying because I’m moving out of my home.”

Reportedly, the actress levied the house to fund a film called Fresh Kills in 2022. This also served as her directorial debut.

While the film received praise, this didn’t quite lead to financial success. At the time, Esposito felt that there was a lack of support among filmmakers. She shared that the industry has “people who are in the spotlight not be able to just throw one back and say, ‘Hey, thanks, watch this film.’”

This caused Esposito to wonder, “I said to myself, ‘You know what? Nobody owes anybody anything.’ And then I thought, ‘Do we? Do we as human beings?

Esposito Received Supportive Comments From Various Well-Known Figures

However, Esposito felt, “I think actually we do owe each other something. We owe each other decency as human beings.’”

The film, which also received $3.5 million in IPO on Upstream, reportedly only earned around $68,310 at the U.S./Canada box office. However, it is still available on Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.

Despite what happened, after sharing her post, Esposito soon received supportive comments from various figures in the industry. As noted by The Daily Mail, this included Don Cheadle, Rosanna Arquette, Jerry O’Connell, Debra Messing, and Patti Stanger.

In a caption, Esposito thanked her supporters, even those who only discovered the film thanks to her story, adding that she had no regrets. She noted, “THIS is what matters to me- connection. That’s why artists do what they do and sometimes sacrifice everything to create it- human connection and expression. That alone is the reward. I’ll also say it again- I’D DO IT AGAIN.”

Esposito noted that she was pushed to levy her house after dealing with a producer who “drove the film in the ground.” She noted these tears came from being put in this position.

According to IMDB, Esposito is listed as a director and producer of Fresh Kills, in addition to playing the character, Francine Larusso. It was said that the film “follows the story of the loyal women of an organized crime family that dominated some of the boroughs of New York City in the late 20th century.”
