Duck Dynasty fans are quite familiar with the signature style of the men of the Robertson family of Duck Commander fame. That said, everyone has grown and changed in their lives. Recently, Korie Robertson, who is married to Willie, has opened up about what her spouse was like as a rebellious twenty-something.
Korie Robertson Noted That Willie’s ‘Rebellious’ Phase Looked A Little Different Than Most’s
Duck Dynasty is an A&E series that originally ran from 2012 to 2017. The show focused on the lives of the Robertson family and their duck-hunting Duck Commander business, founded by the late family patriarch, Phil Robertson.
In 2025, it was announced that the series would come back with a reboot, Duck Dynasty: The Revival. This series follows Phil’s son, Willie, and his spouse, Korie, and their growing family as they live in Louisiana.
Recently, Korie spoke with Fox News Digital about what Willie was like in his younger years. While most people think that a clean-cut image comes before or after a rebellious phase, Korie shared that it was the opposite for Willie.
With a laugh, Korie shared, “I always say Willie’s 20s were his rebellious period. He shaved and showered regularly and didn’t wear any camo. He wore polo and Girbaud jeans. He was, like, preppy in his 20s.”
Willie himself chimed in, revealing that stepping away from his family’s hunting roots seemed natural at the time. He added, “In my 20s, I never would have dreamed I’d have worked at the family business. That’s not where I thought I would end up.”
Willie Also Touched On How Duck Commander Has Also Changed Over The Years
As Duck Commander was still a growing operation at the time, Willie had his ambitions elsewhere. However, things began to change as he started to push 30.
As the old adage claims, people often turn into their parents. Korie felt that Willie was no exception, sharing, “Gradually, he kind of started turning more into his dad. The beard started growing, he started wearing more camo and went back to the family business.”
With Willie’s return, he helped to expand Duck Commander into a nationally recognized brand. Eventually, this brought about the family’s reality series. Looking back, he also touched on how the business has also grown and changed over the years, noting, “So back in the day, it was just ducks. And so now there’s so many different flavors of business that happened in our location.”
Willie also shared his perspective on the phases his own children and grandchildren will go through. He shared, “I always want them to do what it is that they love and enjoy. If that happens to be Duck Commander, that’s great. If it’s some other business, that’s fine as well.”
