Jimmy Kimmel Says He Might Host Oscars In 2025 After Trump Remarks

Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t planning to host the Oscars next year. But now he might.

The ABC late-night host was responding to comments from former President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

Trump said that Kimmel was “made to look like a FOOL, which he is, and at the same time go down in Television History as the WORST HOST EVER OF THE ONCE VAUNTED ACADEMY AWARDS!”

Kimmel got a laugh out of this. “I don’t know. That must be why they asked me to host the show again next year.  Which I wasn’t planning to do but now I might,” he added. “Maybe – you know what – maybe you can watch on the TV in the rec room at Riker’s with all the guys.”

The comedian has hosted the last two Oscars as well as two back-to-back in 2017 and 2018. He has been approached to return next year and is now considering hosting the event on March 2, 2025.

He also took joy in Trump’s mistake that Kimmel announced the Best Picture award, mistaking him for Al Pacino.

Additionally, Kimmel took a jab at Will Smith’s infamous Oscar attack on Chris Rock. “Supposedly his wife, and even management, begged him not to do it, “DON’T READ HIS TRUTH, JIMMY, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS,” they said. “In his stories – everyone always begging. They came to me with tears in their eyes they said “Sir? Please sir, don’t read Trump’s post, sir.”

“Which is not at all what happened. What happened is I saw – they showed me what he posted.  I looked and I said, “Oh I’m gonna read this”  My wife went “oh no” I said “oh yes!” and that was that. That was the whole story,” he added. “And by the way – keep my wife’s name out of your f-ing mouth.
