Kate Winslet To Headline & EP ‘The Spot’ Hulu Series From Ed Solomon & A24

EXCLUSIVE: In a very competitive situation, Hulu has landed drama The Spot, starring and executive produced by Oscar and Emmy winner Kate Winslet (Mare of Eastown, Mildred Pierce), with a straight-to-series order, sources tell Deadline. The project comes from Ed Solomon (Full Circle, Men in Black), A24 and 20th Television.

Created and written by Solomon, who will serve as showrunner, The Spot follows a successful surgeon (Winslet) and her school teacher husband who suspect she might be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run death. While looking into the matter, dark secrets are revealed that will test their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.

Winslet executive produces for her Juggle Productions alongside Solomon and A24. The project was developed and shopped by A24, which will serve as lead studio, co-producing the series with Hulu sibling 20th Television.

Winslet is a highly lauded actress who produces under her Juggle Productions which most recently produced the critically acclaimed Mare of Easttown for HBO and the feature film Lee, a bio-drama about the life of fashion Model Lee Miller. Additionally, Winslet led both projects.

On the acting front, she most recently starred in the HBO miniseries The Regime which she also executive produced and can next be seen in James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Winslet is represented by CAA and United Agents in the UK.

Solomon began his career as a writer on ABC TV’s Laverne & Shirley and went on to co-write It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, as well as the cult hit “Bill & Ted” film series: Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and Bill & Ted Face The Music, with Chris Matheson.

As a solo writer, he penned Men In Black and worked on the Now You See Me movies, among many others. A few years ago, he teamed with director Steven Soderbergh and HBO for the critically acclaimed narrative television series, Mosaic. Solomon wrote the script for the film No Sudden Move from director Soderbergh and producer Casey Silver starring Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Ray Liotta, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Kulkin and Matt Damon. His most recent release, Full Circle a six-hour limited series he wrote and executive produced.
