News has come out that Lamar Odom was arrested Saturday morning in Las Vegas. The former pro basketball player and media personality is facing multiple charges since his arrest. The story also brought to mind a previous arrest concerning Odom a few years back, as well as a story shared in his 2019 memoir.
Lamar Odom Was Arrested In Las Vegas Early Saturday Morning, Facing Various Charges
Odom is a former professional basketball player. Known for his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, he was the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2011. Other teams he played with include the Dallas Mavericks, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Odom married Khloé Kardashian in 2009. Together, they starred in their own television series, Khloé & Lamar, which ran for two seasons. The two finalized their divorce in 2016.

Court records have shown that Odom was recently arrested and charged in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 17. Reportedly, he faces a DUI charge and two traffic violations.
The Lakers alum is accused of driving over 41 miles per hour over the speed limit. He is also alleged to have made an improper lane change or failed to maintain his lane.
TMZ was one of the first outlets to report the news. According to the outlet, Odom was still in police custody as of 12 PM local time, having been arrested early Saturday morning. At this time, it is believed that the story is still under investigation.
Odom Previously Discussed An Overdose In His 2019 Memoir, Darkness To Light
The outlet also noted that Odom has a documented history of drug and alcohol addiction. He was previously arrested for DUI back in 2013.
At the time, Odom reached a plea agreement, receiving three years of probation and agreeing to attend a three-month alcohol education program. He also paid around $1,800 in fines and penalties.
In 2015, he also nearly died of an overdose. As noted by People, Odom discussed this overdose on cocaine, alcohol and cannabis at a Las Vegas brothel with his 2019 book, Darkness to Light. At the time, he shared, “My heart stopped twice. I had twelve seizures and six strokes. My lungs collapsed and my kidneys ruptured. I was on life support. Everyone I’d ever loved was looking at me through bleary eyes.”
At the time, Odom was eventually taken to a Los Angeles hospital. He stayed there until 2016. As he noted in the memoir, this overdose “made me realize I couldn’t live the way I’d been living.”
