Malin Åkerman (Watchmen, Billions) has landed the leading role of Margo Banks in the new Starz drama The Hunting Wives, an 8-episode series based on the novel of the same name by May Cobb. Production is set to begin in Charlotte, North Carolina this spring.
From writer, showrunner and EP Rebecca Cutter (Hightown), The Hungting Wives tells the story of Sophie O’Neil and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo’s irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction and murder.
In addition to Cutter and Cobb, executive producers also include Erwin Stoff (The Serpent Queen, Julia) for 3 Arts Entertainment. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Åkerman’s breakthrough came in 2005 on the HBO series The Comeback with Lisa Kudrow. She had a recurring role on the third season of Entourage, as well as the ABC comedy series, Suburgatory. In 2016, Åkerman starred in Showtime’s Billions as Lara Axelrod, alongside Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti, for four seasons.
Additional credits include Fox’s The Masked Singer, AMC’s Soulmates, ABC’s Trophy Wife and Children’s Hospital for Adult Swim. Film credits include The Donor Party, Slayers, Rock of Ages, Couples Retreat, 27 Dresses and Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle.
